In June of this year, the JOTA website published a very interesting story about a survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal, which pointed to a negative impact on young people using the Instagram app. The survey compared the app to a "new cigarette," after revealing that most of the young people interviewed reported that Instagram generates or boosts bad feelings in them.

This begs the question: is Instagram concerned about the social impacts the company may generate on the planet? In this specific case, we see a clear need for the company to review its policies aiming at reducing the negative impacts on the people who consume its product.

The ESG, in turn, brings guidelines for action that seek to reduce possible social, environmental, and governance damage, and not only that, but also seeks to implement a new perception of business activity, emphasizing the real human needs, which are the reason and purpose of everything that exists.

In a world in constant evolution, we know that the adequacy of the company to practices that ensure social welfare is mandatory for its maintenance in the market. Companies, especially those linked to technology, need to seek ways to unite their expertise with global demands, which have long ceased to be concerned only with revenue.

Today, it is not enough for a company to create a product. The world already has many of them. What society needs, in fact, are solutions that improve our cohabitation on the planet, and in this field, the ESG can be an important tool to help the company on this journey.
